Unlike other types of financial aid, grants and scholarships don't require repayment so long as learners meet the financial requirements. Motivated students can receive numerous grants and scholarships to further reduce costs. In addition to healthcare scholarships and grants, degree-seekers can also pursue employee tuition assistance, work-study programs, and fellowships/assistantships. We divide the following scholarships into general, demographic-specific, and regional or school-specific categories to help students find the funding they need to focus on their new careers without a mountain of debt. General Health Care ScholarshipsMaxine Williams Scholarship This award is offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants to students who have completed one semester of medical assisting programs. The program director of their department must solicit the application on behalf of the student. The requirements for eligibility are that each student must have an 3.0 GPA or higher or attend a CAAHEP-accredited course and must complete at least one semester of study. Graduate Pupil Scholarship The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation offers this scholarship to master's- and doctoral-level students enrolled in speech pathology, communication sciences, or a related degree at an accredited school. Criteria for eligibility: All applicants must be studying in a graduate program when they submit their applying and demonstrate academic excellence throughout their academic career. Candidates must submit three letters of recommendation, university transcripts, as well as an essay that answers an inquiry specific to their career goals. Jimmy A. Young Memorial Education Recognition Award The award, which is offered by the American Respiratory Care Foundation, helps undergraduates pursuing an accredited respiratory health degree. In addition to school funding, the recipients receive lodging and travel expenses for the American Association for Respiratory Care Congress. The Edgar Radjabli Scholarships announce their annual college scholarship to undergraduates from the United States who are currently studying healthcare or are current high school students planning on enrolling in college to study healthcare. The requirements for eligibility are that each student must have a 3.0 or better GPA and submit a paper that is original about respiratory health. Applicants must also provide letters of recommendation, proof of enrollment, and official transcripts before June 15. DNP/Ph.D. Student Scholarship The NAPNAP Foundation supports nurse practitioners working toward their DNP/Ph.D. qualifications if they plan to concentrate their studies on pediatrics. Qualifications: All applicants must keep current enrollment and at least a 3.5 or higher GPA within an accredited DNP or Ph.D. program focused on pediatrics. Each candidate must submit a personal statement and CV, along with three letters of support. Barbara A. Cooley Master’s Scholarship This award is presented by the Society of Health and Physical Educators to students enrolled in a master's degree health education program at an approved school. Awardees also receive a one-year membership in SHAPE America. The eligibility requirements for all applicants are that they must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Also, they must submit a CV, three-part essay on their educational philosophy, as well as two letters to recommend themselves. Scholarship Essay Contest Sharps, Inc. offers this award each year to students who are accepted into or currently studying in a degree program that is focused on health studies or a related subject. Conditions for admission: Students must write an essay that outlines how they intend to utilize their education. Every applicant should also submit an application that is completed, non-official transcripts, letters of recommendation, and resume. HIMSS Foundation Undergraduate Foundation The award is offered to undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited degree in medical information or management systems. When applying, learners should be in their third year. Eligibility requirements: A HIMSS member in good standing may apply for this award by submitting an online application with two letters of recommendation, and a resume.
